2017 is Canada's 150th birthday, and to celebrate, they are offering free Discovery Passes that will provide free admission to Canada's National Parks to all visitors for the entire year. Sounds like a good time to visit Canada's parks if they're on your bucket list.
In this beautiful video created by Elena Suvorova you will be transported to Alberta, Canada's Banff and Jasper National Parks, two parks that have some of the incredibly awe-inspiring locations seen in many iconic photos. The beauty of this unspoiled land and its rugged mountains is vividly captured in this video. Ms. Suvorova takes us on a photography tour of this amazing landscape, giving you the perspective that professional and amateur photographers relish.
Featured in this video is one of Canada's most visited and oldest national parks, Banff National Park, located in the Valley of the Ten Peaks where you'll find the spectacular Moraine Lake and Lake Louise. Moraine Lake at an altitude of nearly 6200 feet, or about 1900 meters, is fed by glaciers that deposit rock flour in the lake which creates its distinctive blue-green color. There are walking and hiking trails around the lake to enjoy the scenery from every angle, the most common trail being The Rockpile Trail that leads to an overlook that provides a breathtaking view of the lake. Canoeing, river rafting, horseback riding, gondola rides and helicoptors rides are just a few of the many activities one can enjoy to savor the incredible beauty of this lake and surrounding mountains. An option for lodging is Moraine Lake Lodge, which is located right on the shores of the lake, offering magnificent views from its rustic lodge and cabins.

Lake Louise is another must-see lake in the region. It's much larger than Moraine Lake but again has some of the most unbelievably emerald green crystal clear water that you can possibly imagine. Canoeing, hiking, biking, fishing, tubing, tobogganing, ice-skating, skiing and so many more activities are available around this lake and nearby mountains year-round to immerse you in the indescribably gorgeous scenery. The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is located right on the lake offering exquisite overlooking views.

Jasper National Park is the largest national park in the Canadian Rockies and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Icefields Parkway passes through this huge wilderness area connecting Jasper and Banff National Parks where a road trip along the route brings you countless stunning views of emerald lakes, waterfalls, beautiful valleys, mountains, glaciers and wildlife. Maligne Lake, the largest natural lake in the Canadian Rockies, and Spirit Island, located in the middle of the lake, are the iconic locations seen in so many awesome photos and are featured in this video as well. As with Banff, there are endless outdoor activities to experience the natural wilderness landscape of this area. Taking a road trip through these two parks via the Icefields Parkway is one of the best ways to explore the area and not miss a thing. Travel Alberta suggests a route that includes many of the main scenic attractions.
