Cité de Carcassonne in France

Written by  somedaytrips

We visited this beautiful historic medieval town many years ago while traveling through France by car.  Carcassone is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its classic example of a medieval fortified town with a Gothic cathedral.  Much work was done to restore this town in 1853 by architect Eugene Viollet-le-Duc, a founder of the modern science conservation.  This video was produced by France TV Sports for the Tour de France 2014.  Video taken with a drone.
