South America Travel Options
We featured this video on South America to share the many environments one can explore including rainforests to deserts. While some countries are not recommended for safe travel there are many options. This is also the launch point for Antarctica excursions and nature trips to the famous Galapogos Islands. Images in the video capture some of the natural beauty in Brazil, Venezuela, Guyana, Colombia, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador. We would not recommend travel to Venezuela at this time. We loved the opening scenes of the sky that show the horizons of earth against the universe that reminds us of how small our exploration on this planet truly is when a whole universe awaits.
Travel Tours South America
Planned tours are a very popular way to see many countries in South America. Interested in traveling to the higher elevations of the UNESCO Machu Picchu sites we recommend you do this with a guide. Lonely Planet has one example of a two day tour Machu Picchu to the mountain top. The Amazon is another great adventure with the Mamirauá Sustainable Development Reserve a popular destination. The preserved rain forest, floral habitat and animal diversity has reasonably easy access. There is a primary lodge in the reserve that provides excellent tours and has comfortable accommodations for those not looking for tents. Many travel operators claim it is Amazon's best ecotourism operations. We hope the video has given you some pause to consider travel to South America and see some of the wonders. If you are looking for more then head over to our world globetrotting friends at Travel is Zen. They recently traveled to Argentina and share their experiences and photos in their blogs. Here are some links to some of their specific blogs.
