Explore Mount Vernon Virginia

Written by  Mount Vernon

Explore beautiful Mount Vernon, Virginia, in this uplifting and delightful aerial tour of George Washington's estate and grounds.  This video takes you on a sweeping tour above and all around the stately mansion and its beautifully manicured gardens and grounds.  George Washington, the first president of the United States, lived in this home with his wife, Martha Dandridge Custis, in the late 18th century.

When he originally acquired the home, it was just a simple farmhouse but over 45 years, he slowly renovated and expanded the home to become a 21-room residence befitting his growing status as a leader of a very young country.

We picked this video because we enjoyed the perspective it provided of the estate by the way the camera moves around the mansion at ground-level and above, approaching it from all angles, presenting beautiful views of the mansion, the gardens, grounds and Potomac River.  You get to see the estate grounds without all the movement of people and tourists, just the majestic home and grounds on a quiet fall day.

Be sure to take a look at the other short video on our site, Tour Mount Vernon Virginia, for a lot more information on what to see and do at Mount Vernon.  It is a great place to visit for the whole family and the video will show you why.

On a recent visit during the Christmas season, we captured these photos of the estate, which depict the sophistication of this plantation:
